StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week for January 21st goes to Preston Blackman from Savannah State. StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week is Deron Powers from Hampton. And last but not least, Arnold Louis from Savannah State takes home StatSheet's MEAC 6th Man of the Week.

Blackman finished first in the MEAC in scoring (27.5 pts per game). He also put up great stats in rebounding (2 per game), shooting (50%), and assists (4 per game). The Savannah State senior played well in wins versus Morgan State and Florida A&M.

Blackman led scoring for the Tigers with 41 points while adding 4 assists in a close 78-70 win against Morgan State. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring with 14 points plus an additional 4 assists in a narrow 57-55 victory against Florida A&M.

This is the first time this season that Preston Blackman has been selected StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is North Carolina A&T senior Adrian Powell. Honorable mention goes to Ray Willis, a senior from North Carolina Central. DeWayne Jackson finished seventh and was the highest ranking player from Morgan State.

StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Hampton's Deron Powers

Deron Powers was on the floor an average of 34 minutes starting both games for Hampton. He led all MEAC freshmen in both scoring (17.5 pts per game) and assists (10.0 per game). In a 70-64 win over Quinnipiac, Powers led the Pirates in scoring with 16 points and added 10 assists. Following that in an 80-78 loss to Morgan State, he led scoring with 19 points plus 10 assists.

This is the second StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week award for Deron Powers. The runner-up is Kevin Mays from Maryland-Eastern Shore. Bruce Beckford from North Carolina A&T takes honorable mention.

StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: Savannah State's Arnold Louis

Arnold Louis, a senior and a 6-7 forward, averaged 26 minutes of action over the two games for the Tigers. In the win against Morgan State, Louis put up 5 points and 12 rebounds. Then in the victory against Florida A&M, he racked up 11 points and 8 rebounds.

This is Arnold Louis's second StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week award this season. Jeremy Underwood, a junior guard from North Carolina A&T, is the runner up. Ishaq Pitt, a sophomore guard from Maryland-Eastern Shore, earns honorable mention. The highest ranking 6th man from Morgan State was Shaquille Duncan who finished 8th. Morgan State has yet to win StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week.
