Arnold Louis from Savannah State has been selected for StatSheet's MEAC Player of the Week for January 30th. StatSheet's MEAC Freshman of the Week goes to Delaware State's Kendall Gray. Finally, Savannah State's Arnold Louis is the StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week.
Louis was the MEAC leader in rebounding (14.0 per game). He also registered a huge number in scoring (14.5 pts per game). The Savannah State senior played well in wins versus Stetson and Howard.
Louis totaled 9 points and 14 rebounds in 23 minutes in a big 75-45 win over Stetson. That was followed by 20 points and 14 rebounds in a huge 71-50 victory against Howard.
This is the second time this season that Arnold Louis has been named StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is South Carolina State senior Brandon Riley. Honorable mention goes to Savannah State junior Rashad Hassan. Kevin Thompson, who finished seventh, was the highest ranking player from Morgan State.
StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week: Delaware State's Kendall Gray
Kendall Gray averaged 24 minutes of playing time as a starter for Delaware State. In a 65-51 win over Florida A&M, Gray chalked up 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Following that in a 76-70 win against North Carolina Central, he dialed up 14 points on 80% shooting.
This is the second time for Kendall Gray, who won the StatSheet MEAC Freshman of the Week earlier this season. The runner-up is Ricky Johnson from Bethune-Cookman. Ishaq Pitt from Maryland-Eastern Shore takes honorable mention.
StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week: Savannah State's Arnold Louis
Arnold Louis, a 6-7 Senior forward, averaged 26 minutes of action over the two games for the Tigers. In the win over Stetson, Louis put up 9 points and 14 rebounds. During the win against Howard, he racked up 20 points and 14 rebounds.
This is the first time this season that Arnold Louis has won the StatSheet MEAC 6th Man of the Week. Our own Aric Brooks is the runner up. Anthony Breeze, a senior guard from Bethune-Cookman, earns honorable mention. Morgan State has one StatSheet MEAC Player of the Week win this season.
